You have to see this place to believe it. Really fascinating.

They say minimum 24 hours of rest is required to acclimatise due to less oxygen but i couldn’t wait that long and i decided to take my chances with exploring this beautiful Hemis Monastery on very fist day of my trip.

Beautiful architecture and peaceful environment, that’s all i was looking for. Half hour drive from Leh city and we were in completely different world. I could actually see beautiful Rocky mountains from so close. Drive to the monastery was along the river Indus crossing a narrow bridge over the river and  finally, we reached. The first sight of the monastery was breathtaking. It is said that this monastery existed before 11 century and is famous for its hemis festival.
